In this final project of the new Master's program Applied Data Science at Utrecht University, students work in a team on a data project. The students have knowledge of programming in Python and R. All students follow a core course in data wrangling and analysis techniques. They then select from a variety of elective courses in applying data science for Media Studies, Geosciences, Epidemiology and/or Social and Behavioural Sciences.

Health and Wellbeing at Work Challenge

<h2>Description</h2>
Students from secondary vocational education, higher professional education and private education work in mixed project groups to find solutions for cases and research sustainability questions from brands, companies and other parties connected to the textile and fashion industry in and around the greater Amsterdam area.&nbsp;
 
Teachers will be coaching the individual project groups and hosting large events with all participants together. The project involves events for kick-off, final presentation and in between feed back at each participating school with relevant industry expert speakers, workshops and masterclasses. This project will be integrated in the schools curricula.
 
Challenges may vary from smaller start-ups to established brands working in or with the textile industry.
Students will take on one of the challenges presented during the onboarding period and kick-off event.
They will work in a mixed group by doing research on the topics related to the challenge in order to come up with a solution/ (business) proposal in answer to the challenge. They will do so by meeting every (other) week. The outcome of their research will be presented to the companies at the end event.
The company decides which proposal/ solution wins.
 
With this challenge young upcoming professionals gain knowledge and experience on circular textile development processes and contribute to real life circular solutions, while strenghten the networks between circular businesses and students at the same time.

Circular Textile Challenge

Societies are confronted with multiple and interconnected social challenges, such as climate change and sustainability, differences in health and well-being; combining work and care; and social cohesion &amp; diversity. As a result, effective approaches are needed to meet these challenges.&nbsp;
In the course "Social Change Approaches", students in the master program "Social Challenges, Interventions and Policies" are trained how to design approaches to tackle these challenges, to evaluate their effectiveness, to adapt them if necessary, and to plan their implementation, involving stakeholders in the process.&nbsp;
The student team delivers an end product that is relevant to you. That have any form you like (such as an intervention description, an evaluation report, an implementation plan, but also a webinar, workshop or presentation, or maybe more creative such as a theater play, or a photo exhibition). Samenlevingen worden geconfronteerd met meerdere en onderling samenhangende maatschappelijke vraagstukken, zoals klimaatverandering en duurzaamheid, ongelijkheid in gezondheid en welzijn, het combineren van werk en zorg, en sociale cohesie en diversiteit. Effectieve benaderingen zijn nodig om deze uitdagingen te pareren.
In de cursus "Social Change Approaches" worden studenten in het masterprogramma "Social Challenges, Interventions and Policies" getraind in het ontwerpen van benaderingen om deze uitdagingen aan te pakken, de effectiviteit te evalueren, en de implementatie ervan te plannen, waarbij samengewerkt wordt met stakeholders.&nbsp;
Het studententeam levert een eindproduct dat relevant is voor u, of uw organisatie. Dat kan in elke gewenste vorm (zoals een beschrijving van de interventie, een evaluatierapport, een implementatieplan, maar ook een webinar, workshop of presentatie, of misschien creatiever, zoals een theaterstuk of een fototentoonstelling). Het werk wordt door UU-begeleiders beoordeeld op de verantwoording van de aanpak, en u geeft ons een evaluatie over hoe bruikbaar het eindproduct was, en hoe u het samenwerkingsproces hebt ervaren.

Tijdens een challenge gaan eerstejaars HBO Commerciële Economie studenten vanaf 4 september 2023, 8 weken lang voor de opdrachtgever aan de slag met een operationeel marketingvraagstuk die vraagt om een advies.&nbsp;
 
De opdrachtgever overweegt bijvoorbeeld om een nieuw product, een nieuwe dienst of een nieuw idee op markt te lanceren. Hierbij vraagt de opdrachtgever zich af of er wel voldoende ruimte in de markt is voor dat idee.
 
De strategie van de opdrachtgever is gegeven (hier verwachten we ook input over van de opdrachtgever, ook cijfermatig wat mogelijk is), het product, de dienst of het idee is dus al aanwezig. Dit mag ook een prototype zijn of een idee op papier. De vraag is: is de potentiële markt groot genoeg? Dit is de belangrijkste focus voor de studenten. Zo zullen de studenten trendanalyses uitvoeren en op basis van intensief deskresearch vier scenario’s waar de maatschappij heen zou kunnen gaan uitwerken. Duurzaamheidsscenario’s zijn ook een duidelijk onderdeel van de analyses.
 
Studenten gaan aan de slag met de volgende onderdelen en leveren voor de opdrachtgever hier inzichten op:
· Een theoretische beschrijving van trends, scenario’s en verdienmodellen;
· Een trendanalyse en 4 scenario’s (voor een groot deel visueel uitgewerkt);
· De customer journey voor de potentiële doelgroep in beeld;
· Drie mogelijke verdienmodellen bestaande uit een worst, common en best case;
· Een conclusie op basis van de analyse en presentatie met overtuigend advies richting de directie;

In samenspraak met de opdrachtgever wordt vooraf bepaald de introductie succesvol is. Hierbij spelen people, planet en profit de hoofdrol.
 
De haalbaarheid wordt uitgedrukt in cijfers. Hierbij kan gedacht worden aan bijvoorbeeld: websitetraffic, websiteconversie, winst, omzet, klantbezoeken, aanvragen, hot of cold leads, nieuwe klanten of bestaande klanten (retentie) en soortgelijke cijfers, maar ook wordt meegenomen wat de positieve maatschappelijke of ecologische bijdrage is.
 
Uiteindelijk geven studenten op basis van dit onderzoek, scenario en cijfermatige doorrekening of het een positief of negatief advies wordt richting de opdrachtgever om het idee te lanceren.
 
Wat vragen wij voor inspanning van de opdrachtgever?
1. Informatie waarmee de student zich kan verdiepen in het product/dienst/idee wat de opdrachtgever voor ogen heeft en gegevens waardoor de student een beeld kan vormen over de bestaande business (omzet/klantprofiel/promotiekanalen en bereik)
2. Een kort filmpje waarin de opdrachtgever de opdracht lanceert/introduceert&nbsp;
3. Beantwoorden van 1uur vragen in week 2 of 3 van de opdracht
4. Een rol in de eindoplevering (+/- halve dag tijdsinvestering)

Als opdrachtgever verstrek jij de opdracht d.m.v. een briefing aan het team. &nbsp;
De studenten koppelen aan jou terug wat ze van de opdracht begrepen hebben in de vorm een gespreksverslag met opdrachtformulering. Jij beoordeelt dit verslag en voorziet deze van feedback. Wanneer de opdracht (na een paar iteraties) helder is gaan de studenten aan de slag met een plan van aanpak en een onderzoek. Daarbij onderzoeken ze wat er nodig &nbsp;is om te komen tot mogelijke oplossingen. Vervolgens geef jij feedback op het plan van aanpak en het onderzoek. Wanneer je tevreden bent met de te gebruiken methodes, deliverables, planning, scope, benodigde resources, etc, keur je het plan goed en gaan de studenten aan de slag. Jij behandelt het team alsof je het zelf had ingehuurd. De studenten rapporteren periodiek over status en voortgang. Hoe? Dat spreken jullie onderling af.

HBO-ICT studenten van de minor Information Security voeren opdrachten uit rondom het thema information security en/of privacy.

In this challenge a team of bachelor students Computational Social Science will work towards designing system interventions that transform the Dutch health and mobility systems by rethinking the way people interact with each other by influencing the routines, narratives, and the base conditions that affect their behaviour.
Students are familiar with a range of methods and tools. Some examples include digital data collection, machine learning, network analysis and data ethnography.&nbsp;
We aim to work on wicked problems together with a variety of partners, both public and private related to health and mobility, provided they are based in the Netherlands.&nbsp;

SME AI Clinics was created to fill the gap, between what is possible in the field of data science and what is already being applied by SMEs. SME AI Clinics offers primarily short-term projects where students (outside of education) get to work on a project for 1 SME. Per project, 1 student is paired with 1 company, this student is supervised by a professional.
 
What does participation looks like?
SMEs can participate in different activities, depending on the needs of the company. Each of the activities have different roles and are depending on the status of the company which one fits in their maturity. A group of pre-selected Bachelor and Masters program students in the field of Informatics, AI, and Data Science are matched with companies and projects that fit their experience and education.

The three main activities offered by the SME Clinic are:
 
1. Datalab Inspiration session
Inspiration session in which entrepreneurs are informed about the possibilities of working with data. During those sessions, the companies will get information and examples of other companies on the possibilities of AI and digitization.&nbsp;

2. Datalab Sprint
Project carried out by a student at an SME under the guidance of an experienced project leader. Project delivers a predetermined deliverable and SME AI Clinic. The duration of the project is 6 – 10 weeks, the number of hours spent is 80, the costs for the client are €3,000 euros. Students are remunerated on a freelance basis and receive €1,500 euros.
 
3. Datalab Workshop
If it's not clear where to start with a project, then we will work with a student and our project lead to determine where your pain points are when it comes to data science and create a scope of a project around that.

Over de opdracht:
 
Er zijn verschillende factoren die meespelen in het continueren van groei voor een onderneming. In de Scaling Up methodiek van Vern Harnish wordt er gekeken naar volgende vier factoren(ook wel het vliegwiel genoemd):

Studenten gaan in tweetallen met deze methodiek aan de slag. Ter voorbereiding hierop zullen ze eerst een analyse maken van de onderneming (interne-, externe en SWOT-analyse). Ook wordt er een strategie voor groei uitgeschreven. Daarna gaan ze met het vliegwiel aan de slag. Het einderesultaat is een rapportage met aanbevelingen: welke kpi's en concrete stappen nodig zijn voor groei en impact.

Belangrijk om rekening mee te houden:
- I.v.m. de zomervakantie zal de docent de eerste week van september reageren op de challenges. Als er een match is, dan gaan jullie direct met elkaar aan de slag.

MKB-bedrijven worden geconfronteerd met ontwikkelingen in de omgeving waarop zij een antwoord moeten vinden. De belangrijkste ontwikkelingen zijn de impact van digitalisering op het bedrijfsbeleid, de ontwikkeling van de arbeidsmarkt (War on Talents) en de duurzaamheidsontwikkeling (SDG’s).&nbsp;
 
De studenten werken in groepen van 4. Ze starten met de analyse van het bestaande businessmodel en de marktontwikkelingen om tot ideeën, mogelijkheden en beperkingen te komen voor het ontwikkelen van een duurzaam businessmodel innovatie waarmee (meer) klantwaarde kan worden verkregen.
Vervolgens wordt deze businessmodel innovatie uitgewerkt in een compact en concreet implementatieplan.&nbsp;
Dit implementatieplan wordt geconcretiseerd in diverse producten/activiteiten waarmee de businessmodel innovatie geconcretiseerd kan worden.

Studenten Creative Media aan de Haarlem Campus raken vertrouwd met de productie, marketing en distributie van media- en communicatie-inhoud en -toepassingen. Elke denkbare vorm van media komt hierin terug en zeker ook websites. De studenten moeten bij dit vak onderzoek doen naar de creatieve, technische en bedrijfseconomische mogelijkheden van websites en hoe dit de bredere bedrijfsdoelen ondersteunt.

De opdrachtgever heeft een strategische koers bepaald voor een lopend product of lopende dienst maar wil een oplossing die zich vertaalt in een concreet operationeel advies.&nbsp;
 
Dit advies wordt door de studenten gegeven op basis van een verkennend onderzoek van de externe omgeving (maatschappij/markt/concurrenten/afnemers) en met behulp van zoveel mogelijk aangeleverde datasets. Bij datasets denken wij aan bijvoorbeeld klantgegevens, websitetraffic, social traffic, Google Analytics uitdraai. Deze informatie wordt door de opdrachtgever aangeleverd of hier wordt (in een testomgeving) toegang tot verleend.
 
De opdracht die verstrekt wordt is vaak niet meteen duidelijk voor studenten. Ook kan het zijn dat de opdrachtgever nog niet scherp heeft wat zij van de eerstejaars studenten kunnen verwachten.&nbsp;
 
Daarom vindt er bij de start van deze challenge een uitwisseling plaats in briefing/debriefing vorm. De opdrachtgever zal zijn/haar verhaal doen (bij voorkeur op afgesproken locatie) wat de briefing zal vormen. Hierna zullen de studenten een debriefing opstellen waar de opdrachtgever akkoord mee zal gaan. Hierdoor kunnen de verschillende groepen studenten telkens het vraagstuk net iets anders aanvliegen.
 
Als de opdracht eenmaal akkoord is gaan de groepen een marketingkoers uitstippelen voor de opdrachtgever. Een koers die uiteindelijk volgens de studenten beter zal werken dan de huidige. Studenten moeten tot inzicht komen dat mogelijk de verkeerde klanten worden benaderd via bijvoorbeeld de verkeerde kanalen, of dat de producten of prijzen simpelweg niet (meer) aanslaan bij de huidige klanten. Studenten nemen ook in hun analyse mee of er voldoende aandacht wordt besteed aan duurzaamheid en geven ook hierover advies.
 
Uiteindelijk leveren de studenten een compacte, goed leesbare sheetrapportage in boekvorm op. Dit wordt gecombineerd met een presentatie waarin het advies mondeling wordt toelicht. In de vorm van sprints worden delen opgeleverd die bijdragen aan het uiteindelijke advies.
 
Studenten gaan aan de slag met de volgende onderdelen en leveren voor de opdrachtgever hier inzichten op:
· Een debriefingsdocument wat akkoord bevonden dient te worden;
· Een interne bedrijfsscan;
· Een overzichtelijke marktanalyse;
· Een duidelijk omschrijving van de (potentiële) doelgroep van het bedrijf in de vorm van een visualisatie;
· Een schetst van de (potentiële) klantreis (customer journey);
· Een operationeel advies die rekening houdt met meervoudige waardecreatie,
dus ook een duurzame koers voor de opdrachtgever.

The challenge can include all sorts of media products, such as (interactive) videos, games and gamification, television, theater, movies, etc. The target audience can be a specific age-group, or individuals within a certain social context, but should still be part of the general population. Very specific (niche) audiences that are hard to reach or require very specialized knowledge are less suitable for this project. Tweedejaars studenten Creative Business maken een gedetailleerd export plan voor jouw bedrijf in de creatieve industrie én daarbuiten!
In eerste instantie doen de studenten onderzoek naar het bedrijf van de opdrachtgever en &nbsp;komen tot een organisatie-analyse waarin zij de usp’s van het bedrijf, om te kunnen &nbsp;opereren in het buitenland, centraal stellen.
De tweede stap die de studenten nemen, is dat ze een voorstel voorbereiden voor een aantal landen waarin de dienst of het product succesvol kan worden neergezet. Dit voorstel wordt gepitcht en de opdrachtgever wijst op basis van het voorstel aan welk land(of stad) zijn voorkeur heeft. &nbsp;Studenten gaan aan de slag en leveren uiteindelijk een exportplan op met daarin financiële, marketingtechnische en juridische componenten.
Let op: enig financiële informatie zal aan de studenten verstrekt moeten worden. Doordat zowel internationale studenten als Nederlandse studenten participeren aan deze module, is de voertaal Engels.

Tijdens de opdracht wordt een verandervraagstuk geanalyseerd waarin het leren van medewerkers kan bijdragen aan het functioneren van de organisatie. Het doel van de langlopende opdracht is het oefenen met het ontwikkelen (en indien mogelijk) implementeren van een advies en/of interventie(s) die kunnen bijdragen aan een gewenste organisatieverandering of -ontwikkeling. Van de studenten wordt gevraagd dat zij hierbij gebruik maken van wetenschappelijke kennis en inzichten die relevant zijn voor het vraagstuk waaraan gewerkt wordt.
Welke interventie(s) de studenten gaan ontwikkelen en implementeren en/of hoe ze tot een advies gaan komen en in welke vorm, hangt af van het vraagstuk en de mogelijkheden bij de vragende organisatie: wat is er nodig om een (volgende) stap te zetten in de verandering?

Ondernemers staan voor een grote uitdaging, namelijk een circulaire economie in 2050. Dit brengt veel vraagstukken met zich mee; anders leren denken, pionieren, testen en vooral heel veel leren. Studenten gaan tijdens deze challenge aan de slag met een vraagstuk van een bedrijf rondom de circulaire transitie. Gezien de circulaire economie een breed begrip is en uit uiteenlopende vraagstukken bestaat, willen we deze vraagstukken ophalen bij ondernemers en tijdens een pilot, deze challenges multi disciplinaire te matchen met verschillende teams in het onderwijs. (samenwerken met verschillende vakgebieden om de vraag zo goed mogelijk te kunnen beantwoorden).

Brain and Cognition Challenge

<h3>Uitleg</h3>
In groepen van vier tot zes studenten gaan eerstejaars aan de slag met een project dat aan een aantal eisen moet voldoen namelijk:
Project moet groot genoeg zijn om het hele semester te duren. Dus de opdrachtgever moet open staan voor meer indien nodig. Stel dat de opdrachtgever alleen een app wilt testen of alleen zijn website kan het zijn dat de groep eerder klaar is.
 
- Een project is goed als het minimaal een onder met * bevat uit deze lijst:

 <li>Website pentesten *</li>
 <li>Infrastructuur pentesten *</li>
 <li>Fysieke pentest *</li>
 <li>Phishing van medewerkers</li>
</ul>
Gehele black-box/grey-box/white-box test is voldoende voor een heel semester, omdat hierbij de studenten alles kunnen testen na akkoord met de opdrachtgever.
Aan het begin van het project gaan de studenten zelf contact opnemen met de opdrachtgever en beginnen aan het pre-engagement traject. Dit is stap 1 van de pentest waarin ze als groep met de opdrachtgever in kaart brengen wat er precies gedaan moet worden. Waar aan het einde akkoord gegeven moet worden met een handtekening. Hierbij kan ook een geheimhoudingsverklaring horen.

Spaanse variant
Een variant op de opdracht is dat studenten zich focussen op Spanje. Samen met studenten van Universidad de Zaragoza wordt lokaal veldonderzoek uitgevoerd om de Spaanse markt in kaart te brengen. De Inholland-studenten zorgen voor een briefing vanuit de opdrachtgever, vertalen dit in deelvragen en samen met de Spaanse studenten wordt vervolgens de steekproef voor de enquête bepaald, de vragen voor de enquête en interviews, waarna de Spaanse studenten het veldonderzoek uitvoeren en de resultaten rapporteren in het Engels. Daarna wordt het advies door de Inholland-studenten geschreven.&nbsp;
 
Inzet studenten
Studiebelasting: de studenten werken in meerdere sprints van 2 of 3 dagen aan deze opdracht. Bij iedere sprint wordt een deel van de opdracht afgerond. De studenten werken in duo’s of drietallen. We starten met het inventariseren van het probleem en verkennend onderzoek. Dat resulteert in een probleemanalyse en hoofd- en deelvragen. Vervolgens gaan de studenten bij iedere sprint aan de slag met het beantwoorden van een aantal deelvragen/tussenopdrachten.&nbsp;

Het semester beslaat 20 weken vanaf begin september. We starten dan met 3 weken onboarding waarbij de studenten moeten werken aan door de school verzorgde opdracht en zo de mininaal vereiste vaardigheden en kennis op doen. Vervolgens begint het projectwerk. Idealiter is de kick off van de opdracht 3-4 weken nadat het semester is begonnen. Na 10-11 weken is dan de mid term review en na 19-20 weken de eindoplevering.

In the course Introduction to Interdisciplinary Research, a student team will apply Design Thinking to thoroughly explore and understand the issue that you would like to tackle. Subsequently,&nbsp;they go through a “Pressure Cooker” phase in which they will cycle through various potential answers to the problem. Finally, they will provide and present a set of recommendations for an effective intervention that can help you solve your problem.
The students will receive training and guidance by lecturers from University of Amsterdam.

During this challenge, 1-2 teams of master students will help you improve your branding. Your teams will start the process from a strategic, branding standpoint. They scan the brand (using internal and external information) and provide recommendations for improvements based on collected insights.

Insights are developed based on research within your company, investigating the external environment (e.g. customers, competition, trends, etc.), surveys conducted by the students, and using state-of-the-art academic literature.

Jij beoordeelt dit verslag en voorziet deze van feedback. Wanneer de opdracht (na een paar iteraties) helder is gaan de studenten aan de slag met een plan van aanpak en een onderzoek. Daarbij onderzoeken ze wat er nodig &nbsp;is om te komen tot mogelijke oplossingen. Vervolgens geef jij feedback op het plan van aanpak en het onderzoek. Wanneer je tevreden bent met de te gebruiken methodes, deliverables, planning, scope, benodigde resources, etc, keur je het plan goed en gaan de studenten aan de slag. Jij behandelt het team alsof je het zelf had ingehuurd. De studenten rapporteren periodiek over status en voortgang. Hoe? Dat spreken jullie onderling af.

<h1>📑 Criteria&nbsp;</h1>
<ol>
 <li>Het project moet groot genoeg zijn om het hele semester (ongeveer 20 weken) te beslaan. De opdrachtgever moet dus bereid zijn om eventueel meer werk te verstrekken. Als de opdrachtgever bijvoorbeeld alleen een app wil testen of alleen zijn website, kan het zijn dat de groep eerder klaar is.</li>
 <li>Een project wordt als goed beschouwd als het minstens één onderwerp bevat uit de volgende lijst:

Een volledige black-box/grey-box/white-box test is voldoende voor een heel semester, omdat de studenten hierbij alles kunnen testen na akkoord van de opdrachtgever.
 
Uw organisatie dient de nodige toestemming te krijgen van de uitbaters van infrastructuur om te mogen pentesten indien uw organisatie die niet zelf in eigenbeheer heeft (bijvoorbeeld in het geval dat de website van uw organisatie bij een derde partij wordt gehost, of dat de infrastructuur waarmee uw computer met het internet verbonden is door een derde partij wordt beheerd (komt vaak voor bij een bedrijven verzamelgebouw).
 
3. Optionele aanvullende opdrachten kunnen zijn:

Bij aanvang van het project nemen de studenten zelf contact op met de opdrachtgever en beginnen ze met het pre-engagement traject. Dit is stap één van de pentest, waarin ze samen met de opdrachtgever in kaart brengen wat er precies moet worden gedaan. Op het einde moet er akkoord worden gegeven met een handtekening. Hierbij kan ook een geheimhoudingsverklaring horen.
Gedurende het project komen de studenten wekelijks samen om aan het project te werken. Dit kan zowel op locatie als online gebeuren. In overleg met de opdrachtgever kan worden besloten of de studenten één keer per week op locatie kunnen werken.
 
Wat vragen wij:
Voor het begeleiden van de studenten vragen wij van de opdrachtgever een investering van ongeveer een uur per week om vragen van de student te beantwoorden. Meestal is het korter als een uur. De persoon die de studenten gaat begeleiden heeft minimaal HBO niveau.
 
Wat krijgt uw organisatie:
In geval van een pentest krijgt u een pentestrapport. Indien er ook gebruik wordt gemaakt van een optioneel component, dan wordt een AVG-product geleverd om alvast een stap richting AVG compliance maken of een phishing-campagne wordt opgezet door de groep, om zo de awareness binnen uw organisatie te verhogen.

Dag 1: de dag begint met een presentatie over het vraagstuk door de ondernemer, studenten kunnen vragen stellen om zo duidelijk te krijgen wat de ondernemer nodig heeft.&nbsp;Wanneer dat duidelijk is gaan de studenten aan de slag, met mogelijke ondersteuning van de aanwezige docenten.
Dag 2/3/4: de studenten werken verder aan hun opdracht. Bij vragen zullen ze telefonisch contact opnemen.
Dag 5: aan het einde van dag 5 zullen de studenten een eindpresentatie geven waarin ze presenteren wat ze hebben gemaakt.

Deep dive ICT - Bit Academy

<h3>Uitleg</h3>
Binnen de opleiding Informatica kiezen vierdejaars studenten voor het ontwikkelen van (native) mobile apps of voor cloud computing. Studenten ontwikkelen van de grond af aan een Android en iOS mobiele applicatie en een cloud backend voor opdrachtgevers. Voor deze opdrachten werken wij graag samen met diverse opdrachtgevers uit het werkveld. Enerzijds is het voor studenten interessant om een opdracht uit te voeren voor een echte opdrachtgever. Voor studenten is het nodig om zich te verdiepen in de business processen van de opdrachtgever. Zij moeten onderzoeken wat de requirements zijn, en hoe deze kunnen worden verwerkt in de applicatie. Anderzijds is het voor opdrachtgevers een betrekkelijk laagdrempelige manier om een applicatie te kunnen laten ontwikkelen.
 
Het uitgangspunt is dat studenten hun applicatie ontwikkelen op basis van de wensen van de opdrachtgever. Hiervoor is regelmatig overleg met de opdrachtgever prettig. In de eerste projectweek (begin september) zullen studenten contact zoeken met de opdrachtgever voor overleg over de applicatie en de scope.
 
De opdrachtomschrijving ontvangen wij graag in het Engels, aangezien de voertaal in de minor Engels is.

- Een (visueel) applicatieontwerp voor een ‘native’ mobiele applicatie.
- Een architectuurschets van de te ontwikkelen cloud omgeving.

- ‘Native’ applicaties voor iPhone en Android telefoons.

In this challenge a team of bachelor students Computational Social Science will navigate the complexity of climate change, focusing on how the challenge partner’s different stakeholders perceive climate change and opportunities for digital solutions in diverging ways.
Students will combine data they collect via in-depth interviews with stakeholders, existing data from the challenge partner and public sources, and desk research. They will use this data to write a report, emphasizing policy-relevant findings and supported by a shareable infographic.
We aim to work on wicked problems together with a variety of partners, both public and private.

The main deliverable is a to-the-point advisory report. The report will include a tailored infographic that is suitable for sharing. Students will also prepare and deliver a presentation of the study’s major findings to the partner, stakeholders, and their peers.

There is no planet B. Climate Change is a wicked problem. Therefore UvA students of the new bachelor Computational Social Science will dive deeper into the complexity of this theme, for a variety of stakeholders. They will research and deliver a report including an infographic.

AI Challenge

During the course “Ontwerpen van interactieve systemen” (Interactive systems design), student teams will create an interactive prototype in two stages, finishing with an interactive hi-fi prototype. They will apply a selection of the human centred design methods that they study in the theoretical part of the course. Project work is supervised by Utrecht University staff, but there are regular meetings with the client organisations (see below). Each design challenge will be tackled by around 6 teams of around 6 students. The prototypes can be used as a starting-point of the actual development phase of the product, service or app.

Studenten gaan aan de slag met een vraagstuk van een bedrijf rondom het aantrekken van een andere doelgroep, rondom promotie van een event en rondom het in de markt zetten van een nieuw product. Zij doen research naar het bedrijf, onderzoeken de doelgroep, ontwikkelen prototypes, testen de prototypes bij de doelgroep en leveren uiteindelijk een aantal concepten op die zij voorleggen aan de opdrachtgever. In dit traject van tien weken vormt de Design Thinking methodiek hun leidraad.
Het team pitcht dan de door hun bedachte concepten en de opdrachtgever geeft aan met welk concept de&nbsp; studenten verder kunnen. In het tweede deel van het semester gaan het team het concept&nbsp;ook daadwerkelijk produceren. De module eindigt met een presentatie van hun productie.

Sustainable Energy Business Model Challenge

Tweedejaars studenten Creative Business maken een gedetailleerd export plan voor jouw bedrijf in de creatieve industrie én daarbuiten!
In eerste instantie doen de studenten onderzoek naar het bedrijf van de opdrachtgever en &nbsp;komen tot een organisatie-analyse waarin zij de usp’s van het bedrijf, om te kunnen &nbsp;opereren in het buitenland, centraal stellen.
De tweede stap die de studenten nemen, is dat ze een voorstel voorbereiden voor een aantal landen waarin de dienst of het product succesvol kan worden neergezet. Dit voorstel wordt gepitcht en de opdrachtgever wijst op basis van het voorstel aan welk land(of stad) zijn voorkeur heeft. &nbsp;Studenten gaan aan de slag en leveren uiteindelijk een exportplan op met daarin financiële, marketingtechnische en juridische componenten.
Let op: enig financiële informatie zal aan de studenten verstrekt moeten worden. Doordat zowel internationale studenten als Nederlandse studenten participeren aan deze module, is de voertaal Engels.

De studenten werken in een Scrum team gedurende vijf sprints. In sprint 1, 3 en 5 heeft het team een vaste afspraak met de opdrachtgever. Eén van de docenten fungeert als delegated product owner en zal in het begin de vragen van de teams filteren en eventueel zelf beantwoorden.&nbsp;
We verwachten van de onderneming een omvangrijke en realistische dataset, of toegang daartoe. Omvangrijk betekent hier minstens tienduizenden records aan gestructureerde data, of enige honderden tot duizenden bestanden van foto's, geluidsbestanden of andere documenten. De onderneming heeft een duidelijke vraag of ambitie met deze dataset, maar geeft ook enige vrijheid om de teams met eigen voorstellen of uitwerkingen te komen.&nbsp;

In eerste instantie doen de studenten onderzoek naar het bedrijf van de opdrachtgever en &nbsp;komen tot een organisatie-analyse waarin zij de usp’s van het bedrijf, om te kunnen &nbsp;opereren in het buitenland, centraal stellen.
De tweede stap die de studenten nemen, is dat ze een voorstel voorbereiden voor een aantal landen waarin de dienst of het product succesvol kan worden neergezet. Dit voorstel wordt gepitcht en de opdrachtgever wijst op basis van het voorstel aan welk land(of stad) zijn voorkeur heeft. &nbsp;Studenten gaan aan de slag en leveren uiteindelijk een exportplan op met daarin financiële, marketingtechnische en juridische componenten.
Let op: enig financiële informatie zal aan de studenten verstrekt moeten worden.

Behind the Scenes - InHolland 

During this 8-week challenge International Bachelor Communication and Media students will come up with compelling digital content campaign that has the potential to spread organically and will prototype the campaign content for your organization.
You will get 4-6 teams that will act as the creative teams within a digital agency. The course focuses on audience engagement, storytelling, and media planning (focusing on unpaid media and organic reach). To ensure the designed content resonates with your audiences and inspires active involvement, the students will engage with (small scale, qualitative) audience research, consumer insight development and design thinking-based process of campaign ideas development
👉 Next to getting a content strategy and the content from the teams, this is an excellent opportunity to spot talent, and hire the students as interns. They will do an internship later on in the program.

Tijdens het semester gaat een studententeam een optimalisatie traject uitvoeren voor een bedrijfsproces. Waarna (een deel van) het advies in de praktijk wordt gerealiseerd/geïmplementeerd,&nbsp;vb&nbsp;in de vorm van een dashboard.
 
In beginsel zijn zowel formeel vastgelegde als informeel uitgevoerde processen geschikt als opdracht, in het ene geval zullen de studenten vooral naar verbeteringen kijken terwijl in het andere geval de focus zal liggen op én het vastleggen, én volgens de juiste methoden/technieken verbeteren van deze processen.&nbsp;Hetgeen resulteert in een advies, gericht op verbeteringen in de procesgang.
 
De procesverbetering en optimalisatie wordt vanuit de LEAN&nbsp; methode vormgegeven. De studenten maken bij de uitvoering van de opdracht weliswaar gebruik van de LEAN Managementmethode hetgeen niet betekent dat de opdrachtgever met LEAN als methodiek behoeft te werken.
 
Deze procesoptimalisatie-opdracht wordt afgerond met het in de praktijk realiseren/implementeren van (een deel van) het advies,&nbsp;vb&nbsp;in de vorm van een dashboard.
 
Het is van belang dat het project afgebakend is en dat er mensen beschikbaar zijn die informatie kunnen geven over de processen, werkwijzen, controles etc.
 
Het resultaat van de opdracht is een adviesrapport en een concreet product (vb. dashboard, prototype of een eerste MVP).
 
De opdrachtgever biedt de organisatie-specifieke kennis en toegang tot medewerkers.

Het tweede deel van het eerste blok (grofweg vanaf tweede helft oktober) staat in het teken van opdrachtdefinitie &amp; voorbereiding opdracht. Vanaf medio november vindt de daadwerkelijke uitvoering plaats, op fulltime basis.&nbsp;
Bij voorkeur deels op locatie bij de opdrachtgever; uiteraard verwachten wij sowieso niet dat de opdrachtgever volledige werkplekken heeft ingericht voor de studenten.

Een studententeam voert een optimalisatietraject uit voor één van uw bedrijfsprocessen, waarna (een deel van) het advies in de praktijk wordt gerealiseerd/geïmplementeerd, vb in de vorm van een dashboard.
