(Global) Health Challenge 2025

Description
Our Research Masters Global Health students take on real-world questions at the start of September every year. They do background research, write a short research proposal about what research methods could help get further information, and then propose an intervention. Their help will save you a lot of time.
Their results could help you directly, or could be the basis for a new funding bid or research proposal.

- Program: Master's Global Health: Research - Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (vu.nl)
- Students per team: 3-4 students.
- No. of hours spent per team: 200 hours (this is the total amount of hours spent by all team members)
- Duration: September - November
- Supervision: Student teams are supervised and guided by senior lecturers.
- Deliverables: Presentation and report
- Your time investment: 8-12 hours in total (e.g. kick-off meeting, weekly meetings, final presentation, etc.)

📑 Challenge Examples
The student teams can work on research projects related to:
- Living with HIV/AIDS
- Health promotion
- Mental health recovery
- Diabetes prevention/management
- And any other health related topic that also impact people elsewhere in the world
Concrete example from last year:
The challenge: The Better Care Network would like to know about the practice of the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care for Children, for victims of sexual violence.
Sub-questions were:
- Which guidelines, experiences and good practices are available for rehabilitation and aftercare of sexual violence survivors?
- What are the criteria of quality emergency care in an emergency shelter / group home?
- Which alternatives are available instead of care in shelters, for example foster care or care in the extended family?
- In which situations these forms of family care is feasible?
- In which situations and contexts do survivors stay in a family setting, and in which not?
