Business & ICT Challenge '25
Talented 3rd year Bachelor students Informatics & Economics help your company solve a business/ICT challenge, such as improving business and/or IT development processes, setting up a requirement specification, creating a software design proposal, or developing a rudimentary software application.

✅ Key features of the challenge
- Students per team: 4-5 students
- Course: Project Management
- Programme: Bachelor Computer Science & Economics (Dutch programme)
- Student background: Third year bachelors students, who have basic programming skills and business knowledge. Typically, in this course, they are eager to learn news skills to solve your challenge.
- No. of hours spent per team: 200 hours
- Deliverables: Working prototype (optional), presentation and report (in the form of slides) with recommendations.
- Company time investment: Your time involvement is 10-16 hours in total (e.g. weekly (short) meetings, interviews, final presentation, etc.)
- Matching fee: €850,- (ex tax, charged by Master Challenge (NOT the university))
📑 Challenge Examples
The students will come up with a project plan and execute this plan. They will learn and apply relevant project management techniques while solving your challenge. They will receive training and guidance by lecturers and professionals from Leiden University. The main deliverables are a (working) prototype, a presentation and report (in the form of slides) with recommendations. In the past, students worked on challenges such as:
- Help us make our business processes more efficient using software.
- Improve our IT infrastructure.
- Help us build an online dashboard.
- Help us to set up a new information system.

- Available for (bi)weekly update sessions with the team
💰 Costs
Master Challenge charges a matching fee of €850,- (ex tax) per team. This is to be able to further operate and close the gap between education and practice.

🗓 Planning
- June 19: Deadline for submitting your challenge
- July 22 (or sooner): Receiving message if your challenge is approved by the Course Coordinator
- September 5-9: Matching phase
- September 5: Student teams rank the challenges
- September 9: Challenge owners rank the student teams
- September 10: Matches are communicated
- September 11-17: Kick-off meeting with your team
- December 8-11: Handover and final presentation to project sponsor.
