Are you looking to improve your company's operations management? Imagine practical solutions that streamline your processes and adapt to changing market demands. We invite you to participate in our design challenge focused on enhancing operations management solutions. We understand the everyday challenges companies face in directing, designing, delivering, and developing operations management. Our challenge aims to address these issues with practical and effective solutions.
Key features of the challenge
- Students per team: 4-6
- Course: NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, Entrepreneurship & Retail Management
- Programme: Operations management semester.
- Level: Bachelor, 2nd year students
- Project groups: International (at least 1 Dutch speaking student per project group)
- No. of hours spent per team: 1 semester full time project.
- Deliverables: An operations management project and solution.
- Company time investment: From 1-2 hours per week (e.g., kick-off meeting, (bi-)weekly reviews, and a final delivery) to full co-creation with the project team.

- Process Optimization: Analysis and recommendations for improving existing operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Supply Chain Management: Supply chain strategy, including vendor management, logistics optimization, and inventory control.
- Quality Management: Implementation of quality control systems and continuous improvement programs to ensure product and service excellence.
- Resource Allocation: Efficient resource allocation plans that optimize the use of manpower, machinery, and materials.
- Risk Management: Risk assessment reports and mitigation strategies to address potential disruptions in operations.
- Technology Integration: Implementation of technology solutions such as ERP systems, automation tools, and data analytics platforms to streamline operations.
- Performance Metrics: Development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to monitor and measure operational performance.
- Cost Reduction: Cost analysis and reduction strategies to improve the overall financial efficiency of operations.

These solutions can significantly improve your operations, making them more efficient and adaptable. We manage the project using Scrum and design the solution using the Design Thinking principle. This means we would like to have regular contact regarding the project at least and co-creation with the project team at best.
Project milestones
- Starting point is a project brief that describes the wish, symptom or problem encounter by the client.
- A final brief detailing the final design challenge the student group will be working on.
- Ideas and concepts explaining the solution space for the design challenge.
- Prototypes demonstrating the proposed solutions.
- A plan for implementation and scalability of the solutions within a company.
