Description

After following courses on different topics on Artificial Intelligence the master students are ready to put this all into practice in a AI consultancy project. You can bring your question and data and let students consult you on what you can (or maybe cannot) learn from and/or do with your data.

✅ Key features of the challenge

  • Students per team: 3-4 students.
  • No. of hours spent per team: 340 hours
  • Course: Applied Machine Learning
  • Program: Master Artificial Intelligence
  • Duration: February 2 - June 25
  • Supervision: Student teams will be assigned internal supervisors (with extensive industry experience) at the university to monitor their progress. The details and content of the project are mainly under the supervision of supervisors in the company.
  • Deliverables: Presentation and report with recommendations.
  • Company time investment: 10-16 hours
  • Matching fee: €850,- (ex tax, charged by Master Challenge (NOT the university)).

📑 Challenge Examples

The student teams can work on challenges that require ML techniques to come up with a solution. Topics of challenges that students can work on:

  • Support vector machines
  • Neural networks and deep learning
  • Optimizations and Regularization
  • Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)
  • Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs)
  • Clustering, representation learning and Autoencoders
  • Generative Model
  • Transformers

And a few concrete examples you can think of:

  • Drone-Based Anomaly Detection in Industrial Inspections
  • Object Detection and Tracking for Autonomous Navigation
  • Sensor Fusion for Enhanced Robot Decision-Making
  • Warehouse Robot Path Optimization Using ML
  • Predicting Customer Churn Using Deep Learning
  • Identifying Product Defects in Images With CNNs
  • Classifying Customer Support Tickets With NLP Models
  • Forecasting Energy Usage With Time-Series Models
  • Detecting Fraud Using Anomaly Detection Techniques
  • Building a Product Recommendation System
  • Segmenting Customers With Unsupervised Learning
  • Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Machinery
  • Identifying Drivers of Employee Turnover With ML

But any challenge that requires the application of ML techniques to be solved is most likely suitable.

🏢 Company requirement

  • Any company (startup/scale-up/corporate/incubator/NGO) with at least two founders/employees working full-time in the company.
  • In business for at least 6 months.
  • Available dataset (there is time for data understanding / cleaning, but this should not require too much work).
  • As the aim is to give the students the opportunity of experiencing the job on the site, it is preferred to have some time spent at the company/organization or arrange visits.

💰 Costs

To help facilitate this challenge, a matching fee of €850,- (ex tax) per team applies (charged by Master Challenge and NOT the university).

❗️You will only be charged when matched to a team.

📨 How to apply

You can submit the challenge directly through the website. Provide a title that summarises the challenge. Subsequently, briefly elaborate on your challenge.
